A class of ex-pupils who went to Portree High School ( The 59ers ) have used funds raised at their school reunion to purchase a decommissioned BT telephone box in Portree. They have used it to house a Public Access Defibrillator and with the help of local volunteers are refurbishing it and tidying up the immediate surroundings. Another fantastic resource for the community which could help to save someone's life!
As BT decommission more telephone boxes, rather than scrap them they are making them available to communities through their Adopt A Kiosk scheme. With most being centrally located they make ideal locations for housing defibrillators.
